How did I survive a fire accident?
During my freshman year in college, a fire was caused by a short circuit in the dryer. The townhouse was full of smoke and woke me up in the middle of the night. I used my hands to cover my mouth and nose, ran into the bathroom, and soaked the towels in water. Next, I used a wet towel to cover my nose and mouth. I ran to my roommate’s room, woke him up, and gave him a wet towel as well. We ran through the black smoke and got out of the house successfully. We called 911 and reported the fire.
I stayed calm throughout the emergency situation and used wet towels to prevent breathing toxic fire smoke. I would recommend having a fire detector at home and teaching your children about a Basic survival guide in any emergency situation.
